Press Release #121115(04)-Man Arrested for Aggravated Assault

Thirty eight year old Andres Andrade was arrested yesterday for Aggravated Assault with a deadly weapon after pointing a firearm at a family.

Yesterday at 7:23 pm, San Angelo Police responded to the area of Shannon Hospital for a call of a subject with a weapon. Officers arrived at Shannon and spoke with the victims. A 27 year old male victim reported he was driving to Shannon with his family, a 28 year old female and 2 year old son, when a male subject, identified as Andrade, driving a gray pickup was driving closely to the victims? vehicle and trying to go around them but was unable to do so because of traffic. At the intersection of Chadbourne and Harris Andrade exited his vehicle and pointed a handgun at the victims. The victims drove away and continued to Shannon. Andrade followed the victims there and got out of his vehicle and again pointed the gun at the victims.

Andrade had left prior to Officers arriving at Shannon; however, Andrade was located driving in the area and was stopped by Officers. During the investigation, a black BB gun was located in Andrade's vehicle. Detective Jeremy Cannady was contacted and went to the scene to investigate the incident.

Due to the ability of the BB gun to cause serious injury and the victims fearing for their life by Andrade pointing the gun at them and threatening to shoot them, Andrade was placed under arrest for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Andrade was transported to the Tom Green County Jail.

Press Release #121015(03)-Felon Evades, Crashes during Pursuit

A 30-year-old San Angelo man was arrested yesterday afternoon after he fled a traffic stop that resulted in a vehicle crash with another driver.
Rudolpho Ledezma Casteneda III (DOB 09-05-85) was charged with Evading Arrest Detention with a Vehicle and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon shortly after noon, yesterday. Police initially tried to conduct a traffic stop on Casteneda near the intersections of Currier St. and Texas Avenue, but Casteneda refused to stop and led police on a short vehicle pursuit. The pursuit terminated after Casteneda disregarded the stop sign at La Cruz and Knickerbocker Road where he collided with a 2005 Dodge Ram Pickup truck that was traveling eastbound on Knickerbocker Rd.
After the Collision, Casteneda bailed out of his vehicle and ran on foot. A short foot pursuit ensued in the surrounding area until Officers apprehended him in a nearby parking lot.
San Angelo Traffic Division Officers responded to the scene to investigate the crash, which caused traffic delays in the area for over an hour. The driver of the Pickup, a 35-year-old San Angelo man, was not injured from the crash; however, his truck was towed to a nearby repair shop due to the damage. Casteneda reported minor injuries from the collision but refused medical treatment. Casteneda was operating a white, 2015 Dodge Charger registered to a San Angelo woman. The Charger was towed from the scene.
During a search of Casteneda incident to his arrest, Police located a loaded 9mm magazine. Police also located a firearm inside the Dodge Charger.
Casteneda was transported to Police Headquarters for interview prior to his final stop at the Tom Green County Jail.
No other injuries were reported from this incident.

Press Release #120715(02)-Operation Blue Shield

The Concho Valley Citizens Care organization, in partnership with the San Angelo Police Department, is sponsoring a meeting about bringing Operation Blue Shield to San Angelo. The meeting will be held on Monday December 14, 2015 at 10:30 am in the North Conference Room of the McNease Convention Center, 500 Rio Concho Drive. The founder and CEO of Operation Blue Shield, Mrs. Toni Pickens, will be in attendance for the meeting, and a question and answer session will immediately follow the meeting.

Mrs. Pickens? charitable and community contributions are vast. She is a founding member of the AT&T Performing Arts Center, serves on the advisory boards of Dallas Habitat for Humanity, the Baylor Health Care System Foundation, Texas Heart Institute, Amergy Bank-Dallas and Oklahoma State University. In addition, Mrs. Pickens serves on the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy Steering Committee, the MD Anderson Living Legends Steering Committee, and the Horatio Alger Association of Distinguished Americans Life Partner/Member.

Press Release #112515(10)-Teacher's Aide Arrested for Improper Relationship between Educator and Stu

Yesterday, Officer T Lopez, while working off duty security at Central High School, was informed by Central High School Administration about an inappropriate relationship between a Teacher's Aide and a student.

 

The mother of an 18 year old male student spoke with Central High School Administration about her concern of a possible relationship between 43 year old Teacher's Aide Monica Way and her son.  The mother became concerned after reading text message conversations between Way and her son on her son's cell phone.

 

Detective Jeremy Cannady responded to Central High School to conduct an investigation of the allegation.  During the investigation, Detective Cannady learned Monica Way had a sexual relationship with the 18 year old student.

 

After the investigation, Detective Cannady applied for a warrant for the arrest of Monica Way for Improper Relationship between Educator and Student.  Way turned herself in on the warrant at 5:38 am this morning at the Tom Green County Jail.

Press Release 112315(09)-Police Investigate Fatality Crash

Yesterday, at 5:19 pm, San Angelo Police responded to a traffic crash in the 3100 block of Woodlawn where a car had collided with a young boy on a scooter.

 

Officers arrived on scene quickly and began to render aid to the child until San Angelo Fire Department personnel were on scene to take over.  The child, 8 year old Zachary Cano, was transported to Shannon Hospital for incapacitating injuries.  Zachary succumbed to his injuries at 6:10 pm and was pronounced deceased by Justice of the Peace McGuire.

 

Officer Josh Loudermilk and Sgt Todd Dornhecker with the Traffic Division along with Detective Chris Soto and Sgt Dennis McGuire with the Criminal Investigation Division responded to investigate the crash.  Through the investigation it was learned a 41 year old female, Maria Martin de Bravo, was driving a white 2006 Ford Explorer west on Woodlawn.  She was driving into the sun and did not see that Zachary had entered the roadway on his scooter and collided with him in the 3100 block of Woodlawn.

 

There were no signs that Martin de Bravo was intoxicated and it is not believed that speed was a factor in the crash.  Martin de Bravo did not receive any citations and there are no charges pending in this crash.
