Press Release #112015(08)-Police Arrest San Angelo Men Who burgled you

Two San Angelo men who had outstanding Arrest Warrants for burglary and theft were located and arrested last night.

 

48-year-old Anthony L. Woodson was located and arrested just after 5:00 p.m. yesterday at the Desert Shadows Apartments located at 4112 West Loop 306.  Woodson was the subject of a Felony Arrest Warrant for Theft of Property

 

In a separate incident, 31-year-old Edward Damien Herridge was located and arrested just after 6:00 p.m. yesterday at the EZ Pawn Store located at 3101 Sherwood Way.  Herridge, who was the subject of a Felony Burglary of a Habitation Warrant, was observed entering the store with a man later identified as 32-year-old Matthew Moore of San Angelo.  The pair were attempting to pawn a television set.  Police arrested Moore for State Jail Felony Possession of Controlled Substance PG1 after they located a substance that field-tested positive for heroin on his person.  During an exterior sniff of the vehicle Herridge and Moore were operating, Police Service Dog Thor alerted to the presence of Contraband.  During a vehicle search, Police located a large amount of suspected stolen property.  The vehicle was towed from the scene and the contents processed and inventoried.  Police believe the property may be linked to several unsolved burglaries.

Press Release #111815(07)-Teen Struck by Vehicle in Critical Condition

A 16-year-old male is in critical condition after he was struck by a pickup truck late last night in North San Angelo.

 

The crash occurred at about 10:00 p.m. in the southbound lane of the 3600 block of N. Bryant Blvd.  The victim was transported to Shannon Medical for treatment of incapacitating injuries and he is listed in critical condition.

 

The victim and another 16-year-old male were reportedly walking backwards in the roadway when they noticed headlights and attempted to jump out of the vehicle's path.  Witnesses at the scene told police the victim first ran westbound but stopped and began to run east when he was struck by a 1999 GMC pickup truck.  The second juvenile avoided collision and was not injured.

 

After the collision, the truck's driver, a 24-year-old male resident of Brady, used his truck to block oncoming traffic and attended to the victim until first responders arrived.  The driver and his female passenger were not injured from the collision.

 

No citations have been issued at this time.  The crash is under investigation.

Press Release #111715(06)-San Angelo Man Arrested for Promotion of Child Pornography

A San Angelo man, 33 year old Nicholas Glass, was arrested yesterday for Possession with Intent to Promote Child Pornography after San Angelo Police responded to his residence for a domestic disturbance call.

 

Yesterday, November 16, 2015 at 4:50 pm, San Angelo Police responded to the 4400 block of Kalamath Circle for a Domestic Disturbance.  Officer J. Villalobos met with the complainant, who is Glass? wife.  She told Officer Villalobos she and Glass had an argument because she had found naked pictures of an underage female on his cell phone.  Glass? wife also found a text message conversation between Glass and another underage female.  During this conversation, Glass sent the pictures of the underage female he had on his phone in exchange for pictures of the underage female with which he was having the text message conversation.  Glass? wife had the cell phone in her possession and was able to show Officer Villalobos the pictures.

 

During the investigation, Glass was seen in the area and Officer Villalobos made contact with him.  Glass was placed under arrest and transported to the Tom Green County Jail and was charged with Possession with Intent to Promote Child Pornography.

 

Detective Jeremy Cannady is investigating this case.  The investigation is still ongoing and no other information is available at this time.

Press Release #111015(05)-Man Arrested for Drug Possession and Unlawful Carrying a Weapon

Today at 12:41 pm, San Angelo Police responded to a civil disturbance call at the Econo Lodge, 415 W Beauregard.  An employee believed a male subject who had just checked in had stayed in the motel a few weeks ago and stolen a TV.  The employee reported hearing a gunshot from room 110 where the male subject was staying.  Another employee saw the male subject leave with a handgun in a green car prior to Police arriving at the motel.

 

Officers were not able to locate the male subject.  Officers checked room 110 and found a bullet hole in the bed.  There was no one else inside the room and no sign that anyone had been injured.

 

At 2:30 pm, an employee of Econo Lodge called in again stating the male subject was back on the property in the green car.  Officer B Bylsma arrived at the motel and made contact with the male subject as he was backing out of a parking space near room 110 in a green 2015 Chevrolet Sonic.  The male subject was identified as 29 year old Jason Rowden.  While speaking with Rowden, Officer Bylsma smelled the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.

 

A search of the vehicle was conducted and high grade marijuana and Xanax pills were located inside the vehicle.  A semi-automatic .45 caliber handgun was also located in the vehicle.  The caliber of the handgun was the same caliber as the bullet that was fired inside room 110.  Rowden was placed under arrest and searched.  During the search, Rowden was found to be in possession of less than one gram of heroin.

 

Rowden was transported to the Tom Green County Jail and charged with Class A Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana, Class A Misdemeanor Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 3, State Jail Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1, and Class A Misdemeanor Unlawful Carry of a Firearm.

Press Release #110515(04)-SAPD Graduation and Promotion Ceremony

Nine cadets are set to graduate from the San Angelo Police Department Academy.

 

On Friday, November 6, 2015, at 3:00 p.m., the San Angelo Police Department's Basic Police Officer Class 2015-A will participate in a Graduation and Swearing in Ceremony at the SAPD Police Academy, 3373 FM HWY 584.

 

The nine (9) graduates who will be sworn are; Maryan Cade, Nicholas Franchuk, Thomas Gibson, Travis Gonzales, Long Nguyen, Brad Howarth, Joe Mata, John Southwell, and Chase Hill.

 

The cadets successfully completed an extensive one thousand seventy (1,070) hour academy learning basic law enforcement skills and a multi week in-service course.  Following graduation, the cadets will become Apprentice Police Officers (APO's) and will be assigned to a seventeen (17) week Police Training Program.

 

The Police Training Program is designed to teach the APO's how best to use the skills acquired in the academy and in-service training.

 

Immediately following the Graduation and Swearing in Ceremony, there will be a Promotion Ceremony for Officer Craig Thomason.  Officer Thomason will be promoted to the rank of Sergeant.

 

Officer Craig Thomason was hired by the San Angelo Police Department on April 11, 2008.  Officer Thomason is a member of the SAPD SWAT team and has worked as a Patrol Officer and a Detective.  Officer Thomason has 2,483 training hours and holds an Advanced Peace Officer License.

 

The ceremonies are open to the public.
