Search Warrant Leads to Heroin Arrest

On September 13, 2017, members of the San Angelo PoliceDepartment Street Crimes Unit served a search and arrest warrant at a residence in the 200 block of East 3rd Street.

A search of the home resulted in the discovery of a quantity of heroin.   

Two individuals, 53 year old Eva Gaitan and 51 year old Rosalie Perez, were arrested for Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 more than 4 grams, less than 200 grams. 



Dispute Leads to Stabbing

On September 12, 2017, at approximately 4:45 pm, San Angelo Police were dispatched to the Riverpoint Apartments in reference to a stabbing. 

Upon arrival, officers located a 15 year old male victim with multiple stab wounds to the abdomen.

It was learned that a dispute between two children who reside in separate apartments led to the parents of those children engaging in an argument.  The argument resulted in the suspect, 32 year old Ala Abdelhadi, getting involved in a physical altercation with the 15 year old victim.

During the altercation, Abdelhadi used a pocket knife to stab the victim multiple times.  Abdelhadithen fled the scene in a vehicle.  The victim was transported to Shannon Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  

Officers on the scene were able to provide a license plate to the vehicle in which Abdelhadi fled.  Other officers located the vehicle near the intersection of Bell Street and Pulliam Street.  Abdelhadiwas taken into custody at that time with no further incident.

Abdelhadi was charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and booked into the Tom Green County Jail.



September 12, 2017 Traffic Enforcement Operation

Today, the San Angelo Police Department’s Traffic Section conducted a School Zone Traffic Enforcement Operation utilizing LIDAR. 

Police issued a total of fifty (50) citations during the operation, which ran from 7:00 – 8:00 a.m. at the Central Freshman campus, Trinity Lutheran, McGill Elementary, Crockett Elementary, San Jacinto Elementary, TLC Elementary, Bowie Elementary, Holiman Elementary, Glenmore Elementary, and Fannin Elementary.  Breakdown for citations: 

Driving While License Invalid: 2

Other/Misc. Violations: 12

No Insurance: 2

Speeding: 34

Warnings: 6

Following the School Zone Operation, additional LIDAR Traffic Enforcement was conducted targeting eastbound traffic in the 2300 block of West Houston Harte until 10:30 a.m. 

Officers issued a total of fifty-four (54) citations during the operation.  Breakdown for citations: 

Fail to Change Lanes/Slow While Passing Emergency Vehicle: 3

Speeding: 38 (Highest speed 95 MPH)

Other/Misc. Violations: 12

No Insurance: 1

Warnings: 4

As a reminder, the Texas Transportation Code requires drivers nearing stopped emergency vehicles with lights activated to change lanes or slowdown by 20 MPH below the speed limit.  Failing to take these actions endangers personnel who provide critical and life-saving services. 


Street Crimes Division Finds Meth at Pulliam Residence

On Monday, September 11, 2017, Investigators with the San Angelo Police Department’s Street Crimes Division and S.W.A.T. Team executed a Search Warrant at a residence in the 800 block of Pulliam Street. 

The warrant, issued by Judge Tom Gossett, named 32-year-old Damien Ray Medina to be in possession of methamphetamine at the residence.  

Medina was located at the residence and detained.  Prior to the search, San Angelo Police Service Dog Duke was deployed to conduct an open air sniff around and inside the residence.  After deployment, Duke alerted Officers to the presence of narcotics and Investigators subsequently located a quantity of suspected methamphetamine and marijuana. 

Medina was arrested for State Jail Felony Possession of Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 and Class B Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana.  Medina was transported to the Tom Green County Jail. 

The Department’s Patrol Division and Center for Tactical Medicine Team assisted with yesterday’s operation and SAISD Officials were notified prior to the search due to the residence’s close proximity to San Jacinto Elementary School. 



San Angelo Police Seek Tips for Recent Vehicle Burglaries at Auto Dealerships

San Angelo Police are seeking tips regarding recent vehicle burglaries at local auto dealerships. 

San Angelo Police have recently responded to multiple vehicle burglaries at Jim Bass Ford, 4032 W. Houston Harte Expressway, All American Chevrolet, 203 N. Bryant Boulevard, All American Autoplex, 4310 Sherwood Way, Mitchell Buick-GMC, 4105 Sherwood Way, and Mitchell Toyota, 1500 Knickerbocker Road.  

In most incidents, the suspect(s) forced entry into secured areas, jacked up the vehicles and removed tires, wheels, rims, and in-bed toolboxes. 

Although the primary target has been auto dealerships, the Department has responded to several residential vehicle burglaries with similar details.
