On August 2, 2021, at 1:29 am, Officers were dispatched to a major motor vehicle accident.  When Officers arrived on scene they located a disabled vehicle (Red Kia Sportage) in the parking lot of Central High School (655 Caddo).  The Kia Sportage had struck multiple large rocks at the front of the school and came to a stop.

A second wrecked vehicle (White Honda Accord) was located at 600 W Houston Harte.  After further investigation it was discovered that the driver of the Kia Sportage ran onto Loop 306 and was struck by the Honda Accord.  The Honda Accord then veered off the road and struck a large sign.  The driver of the Honda Accord was not wearing a seatbelt.

Due to the impact, the driver of the Kia Sportage and the driver of the Honda Accord succumbed to their injuries at the scene.  They were pronounced deceased by Judge Howard.  The driver of the Kia Sportage was identified as Raphael Salas (45) from Del Rio.  The identity of the second victim is being withheld at this time pending notification of the family.  This is still an ongoing investigation.    ###

Search Warrant

On July 29, 2021 members of the San Angelo Police Department's Street Crimes Division executed a search warrant at 2401 N Lillie (Nueva Vista Apartments).  Approximately 2 ounces of heroin and four handguns were located and seized.  Arturo Martinez (26) was arrested for Man/Del CS PG1 >=4<200 an Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.  Rosa Banon (23) was arrested for Man/Del CS PG1 >=4<200.

MVA

On July 23, 2021, at 1:59 am, Officers were dispatched to the 200 block of N Koenigheim in reference to a major motor vehicle accident.  According to a witness, Anthony Padilla (28) was driving a passenger car and racing Keifer Ekert (28), who was on a motorcycle.  Ekert lost control of his motorcycle and crashed.  Officers arrived on scene and provided first aid until Medics arrived.  Ekert was transported by ambulance to a local hospital with serious injuries.  Padilla was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and transported to the Tom Green County Jail without incident.  This is still an ongoing investigation.  ###

Swatting Calls

On July 22, 2021, at about 10:50 pm, Officers responded to the 3600 block of Cedar Creek in reference to a possible shooting victim.  Contact was eventually made with the resident, who was not harmed.  Shortly after, a second call came in from the same caller, stating that the incident had actually occurred at the 3600 block of Shadyhill Dr.  After further investigation it was determined that both of the calls were Swatting (false) calls.  This is still an ongoing investigation.  ###

Robbery

On July 20, 2021, at 10:13 am, Officers were dispatched to the 800 block of E 36th St in regards to a robbery in progress.  Upon arrival, Officers located the suspect's vehicle parked in front of the residence.  Two males were immediately detained.

After further investigation it was determined that the victims were associated with the suspects.  The victims were not injured during the robbery.  Cameron Lewis (25) and Khari Brown (29) were both arrested for Aggravated Robbery and transported to the Tom Green County Jail without incident.  ###
