Ed Kading

Lt. Edward Kading joined the San Angelo Police Department in 1993 after graduating from Sam Houston State University with a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice.  As an officer, Kading served in the Patrol, Criminal Investigation and Narcotics Division. 

In 2003, Kading was promoted to Sergeant and during that time he has been a supervisor in the Patrol, Criminal Investigation, and Narcotics Division.  Prior to being promoted to Lieutenant, Kading spent 2 ½ years in the Office of Professional Standards.  While in Professional Standards, Kading developed and implemented training for Supervisors and officers dealing with Police Officer misconduct and discipline that he continues to teach in the Department and around the State of Texas. 

In 2004, Kading became a member of the Department's SWAT team, where he currently serves, and has attended Basic and Intermediate SWAT schools. 

In 2006, Kading graduated from Angelo State University with a Master's Degree in Public Administration. 

Kading was promoted to Lieutenant on January 5, 2011. He was assigned as the Training Coordinator from February 2015 until July of 2016 when he took over the new Street Crimes Unit for the San Angelo Police Department.


Lt. Kading has over 2000 hours of training in his career, and holds a Master Peace Officer Certification from the Texas Commission of Law Enforcement Standards and Education.
