  • Press Release #051116(08)-Reward Offered in Search for Second Bell County Murder Suspect

    The Temple Police Department is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of 20-year-old Justin Slatton Jr., the second suspect wanted in connection with an April 13 shooting that resulted in the death of two Bell County men.
    Members of the Temple Police General Investigation's Unit, San Angelo Police Department, The Texas Rangers and the Department of Public Safety are currently in San Angelo, Texas actively searching for known suspect, Justin Slatton Jr., white male, DOB 01-27-96.
    Slatton has two active warrants for Murder and he is considered armed and dangerous.
    On May 9, the joint apprehension team located and arrested 17-year-old Lupe M. Chappa III from a residence in the 2400 block of Culver Avenue is San Angelo. Chappa is being held at the Tom Green County Jail in lieu of bail set at $2 million dollars.
    In addition to the reward from Temple PD, San Angelo Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of $250 for information that leads to an arrest. Slatton has an additional warrant for Burglary of a Building issued out of Tom Green County.

  • Press Release #051116(07)-Police Investigate Shots Fired Call on Volney Street

    Just after 8:00 p.m. last night, San Angelo Police were dispatched to the area of Volney Street and 22nd for the report of shots fired.
    Officers responded and located a residence in the 2200 block of Volney St. that had been shot multiple times. The residence was unoccupied at the time and no one was injured.
    Several witnesses told investigating Officers that they observed a white, newer model Ford Explorer speed north from the scene after they heard the gunfire.

  • 050916(06)-Police Investigate Mother's Day Shooting

    Yesterday, May 8, 2016 at 10:16 am, San Angelo Police responded to the Windmill Apartments at 1929 Raney for a shooting. The victim, a 37 year old male, was already on his way to Shannon Hospital in a private vehicle when Officers arrived at the Windmill Apartments.
    Officers met the victim at the hospital and learned he had a gunshot wound to his lower body. The victim stated the gunshot was accidental.
    Detective Anderson with the Criminal Investigation Division responded to conduct an investigation. At this time the shooting is still under investigation and there is no other information for release at this time.
