  • Officer Nandin and Officer Diaz
I want to thank Officer Nandin and Officer Diaz for going over and above on and out of their way to help me on Thanksgiving Day.  My vehicle electrical system was malfunctioning and locked on its own while the car was on and running with keys inside and I was not!  Thank you for your kindness and professional courtesy of service and for rescuing me in my dilemma.

  • Detective Charles Barker
I was visiting San Angelo, my hometown, last week. Det. Barker came to notify my sister that her youngest son had been found dead.  In my 30 years of medical practice where people are trained to deliver bad news in a professional but compassionate way I have never seen anyone handle the situation as well as Detective Barker.  He came across as sincere, empathetic, and caring. He treated my elderly sister with respect and shared with her some positive experiences he had with her deceased son, who was mentally and physically unhealthy and chronically living on the streets. This man is an asset to SAPD. Please thank him for me.

  • A. Alvarez
I want to thank officer Alvarez for not only being a person of compassion and good moral but an officer with a heart. Officer Alvarez was dispatched to assist my fiancé in having the mother of his children comply with their court order so my fiancé could finally see his children after over a year without seeing them. Thank you for being the light at the end of a dark tunnel for my fiancé, there are not enough words to express our extreme gratitude.

  • Anderson and Coffman
Officer Anderson responded to our home due to a theft from my truck on 9/21/23. He did an over and above job as an officer , he even took finger pints from my truck. He along with Sgt. Coffman then proceeded to check the route of the thieves and recovered my property scattered down the next alley way.  These two officers are exemplary in their performance of duty.

  • Ratcliffe
I want to thank Officer Ratcliffe for presenting at three Robotics Camps for middle school students at Angelo State University.  Office Ratcliffe presented information regarding the drone program at the SA Police Department.  In addition, he provided demonstrations with the drones, which absolutely amazed the campers. At one presentation, Officer Ratcliffe was able to bring other officers to help with the presentation.  This not only provides information on drones and robotics, but gives the students additional information on how the police department helps the community.  The presentations were interesting and valuable.  Thank you Officer Ratcliffe!!

  • P. Rodriguez
Most amazing police officer ever. I've never trusted an officer before but Officer Rodriguez has changed my mind. He was very sweet and made me feel like he truly cared about my situation. When you hear that officers are here to serve and protect...he actually did.  He stayed with me until I felt safe and I've definitely never had an officer do that.  I'm extremely grateful that I got him to help me! He deserves to be recognized for actually doing his job and being amazing at it. Thank you and God bless you,  Officer Rodriguez!

(Correction on date) To the team of officers who assisted with broadcasting an alert to locate my dad, on September 12, 2022 - THANK YOU. Your collaboration and partnership with other local law enforcement and the community helped bring our dad home safely. My dad served his country and continues to serve his community and you all served him with your search efforts. Thank you for being there for my dad when he needed you most. To the staff within the department, THANK YOU for your patience and resources. You all provided support to our family. I felt so useless and scared with the fear of the unknown since I no longer live in San Angelo, but your reassurance and attention comforted me. You all especially comforted my mom while she experienced this scare first hand. Thank you all for your service and for offering our parents safety and peace of mind. We honor you all and support what you represent.

  • C J DELACRUZ
CJ your outstanding service was greatly appreciated. This says a lot about our local police officers, because CJ was off duty and took his personal time to assist with finding my husband.  Thank you CJ for being there for us (my husband is brother to CJ's brother in law).  CJ went above and beyond to help locate my husband.  He too never gave up and worked until my husband was found.  I am sure this made Richard feel at ease knowing he knew one of the police officers, as my husband too was terrified trying to find his way home.  My husband, Richard is in his early stages of dementia, alzheimer's and this is a learning process for us all or like my husband refers to it "brain farts" crap happens. CJ, your outstanding service is greatly appreciated!

JOB WELL DONE! He did a great job and went above and beyond to help locate my husband whom was recently diagnosed and is at the beginning stages of dementia alzeimers. Garnett did exactly what my daughter, whom is an officer in Virginia, told me to do and that was "Mom get as much law enforcement that you can involved to help locate dad."  This is exactly what officer Kyle Garnett did, unlike me my daughter had to help me letting me know what to do because I was terrified not knowing which way to turn.  Thanks again for your outstanding service and is great appreciated!

  • Did not catch his name :-(
He responded to a dog bite next door to 1913 Coleman St around 3:00 pm on Saturday, June 11. He was so very friendly, personable, and professional. After making numerous calls to the City of San Angelo and animal control and trying to get something done about the aggressive abandoned dogs and the huge trash pile, we (and our neighbors) appreciate that SAPD was able to assist. Sadly, it took our neighbor getting bit. And, at the time of this comment, the city and animal control have still not removed the aggressive, abandoned dogs or the trash pile. Nonetheless, at least our neighborhood had the support from this officer and for this we are truly grateful for him!

  • Officer Dustin Bilyeu
On the afternoon of 04/14/2022, my daughter fell victim of a hit and run accident in the parkin lot of South Bryant Wal-Mart Supercenter that left her stranded.  Officer Bilyeu was the responding officer of the accident.  Not only did he have a calm and nurturing persona about him, we feel like he went above and beyond the call of duty.  Upon his arrival, my daughter was very upset.  He spoke to her in a calming manner that really made her feel more at ease.  As myself and a co-worker changed the damaged tire, he also offered his help.  Although this was a very upsetting turn of event, Officer Bilyeu made the situation less upsetting for my daughter.  Thank you so much for your dedication to our community and above all, thank you for your help and concern for my daughter!

I want to personally thank Officer Zane for his professionalism and sincerity. My daughter was in a vehicle accident, and I am truly grateful that Officer Zane was the responding officer. He was very calm and collected, and did a wonderful job of reassuring my family. He was very personable and approachable, which put us at ease. He put a very scary accident into a true perspective for me and my family. His wittiness and composure brought light to a very dark feeling for me and my family.

Thank you Officer Zane! You will never know how appreciative we are of you!

I really want to Thank these Officers for their patience, kindness and compassion today. Today my Mother Jean Davis 3709 Garnett road placed a 911 call at about 14.00. Recently Mum has had bouts of increasing dementia and we are trying to time medications to help manage her symptoms It has been hard on us as a family trying to give her the best care we can and help her when she becomes distressed.
I know what a heavy work load and the kind of situations PD deal with on a daily basis but these Officers paid more attention to what my Mum had to say than some medical staff we have seen recently. I really cannot Thank them enough.

  • Officers Warrick, Thompson and Delacruz
I would like to commend the above named officers for their outstanding service on the evening of March 3, 2022.  At about 16:50, I received a phone call from my wife that our grandson's pickup truck had broken down, right in the access ramp onto N. Rt. 87 and 7th Ave., Not a very good place for this to happen.  She asked me to come to his assistance, as she had to take him to a very important appointment.  When I arrived on the scene, there was his pickup, effectively blocking traffic and no way to move it out of the way. I relieved my wife of her involvement, and called AAA for a tow.  Out of no where, a police car was behind my pickup, and Officer Delacruz came over to me and asked if everything was alright?  I He had just gotten out of a training session, and was on his way home when he came across our situation(I was still on the phone with AAA when he arrived, and I had not had time yet to call the police for assistance).  I explained the breakdown issue and that a towing vehicle would be arriving in around 15 to 20 minutes. He called in our location to one of the officers who was on patrol. He stayed with us, with his emergency lights flashing, and directed traffic around our 2 vehicles.
About 10 minutes later, another patrol car arrived on scene, with Officers Warrick and Thompson. They proceeded to get the report from Officer Delacruz, and then set up traffic cones to direct traffic around us. Officer Delacruz, who was officially off duty, then bid me good bye; and I thanked him for coming to our assistance. Officers Warrick and Thompson then remained on scene until the towing vehicle arrived to remove my grandson's pickup from the ramp. I also thanked them and asked for the names of all involved so I could write this heart-felt Thank You note to them. These three offices were not only professional, courteous and helpful, they were also friendly and able to relieve me and my grandson of the stress we were experiencing (not to mention that my wife also felt a whole lot better too).
I know the hard-working officers of all police departments do not get enough positive feed back from the public that they "Serve and Protect," which is why I am writing this note. Thank you so much for your assistance and service gentlemen!

  • Officer Morris
Officer Morris and his partner responded to my home twice within one week for domestic disputes between my husband and I. Officer Morris really showed his dedication to his job by showing compassion and going the extra mile to ensure the safety of myself and for my children. He did not judge and was just over all a great police officer and person.  His partner was just as great I just don't recall his name. Thank you to the both of you. SAPD ought to be proud to have such awesome people on their team.

  • Officers Gonzalez and Webber
I would personally like to commend Officers Gonzalez and Webber for their assistance on Monday, December 6,  around 7:00 pm. I had car trouble on Knickerbocker and Southwest. I haven’t lived in San Angelo very long and my son, who lives here, was working in Eldorado when my trouble occurred. Both officers could not have been more helpful and understanding. They waited and helped me get my vehicle out of the busy intersection on a cold and dark night.  Once my son arrived they explained to me if it happened again to call the non-emergency number if I found myself in a similar situation in the future and gave me that number. I can’t tell you how impressed and thankful I was for their help.
    Respectfully,

  • Hamilton
I called the non-emergency dispatch line of the San Angelo Police Department this morning, for an unknown subject/suspect at my home. At 1:54am this morning, Officer Hamilton called me back at 2:02am and said he would be here to speak with me. He showed up about 1 minute later, I actually could see the headlights from the patrol unit before that.

I also noticed that two units were patrolling the area before he contacted me. I would not have called except for I had a person show up at 1:41am and triggered my camera outside in my carport area.

I will have to say that Officer Hamilton was extremely professional and I give him kudos for that and all the other officers and Involved. We need to respect these officers as I do they are not perfect but we are not either. They have a very dangerous job we need to respect that. Thank you officer Hamilton and all your fellow officers.

  • Male Unknown Sergeant
I was traveling and was in the Pittsburgh Airport occupying a table for four when I noticed a young man pushing a lady in a wheelchair and also had his young daughter with him. I simply shared my table with them and had a nice conversation. His daughter was delightful to listen to and I enjoyed my dinner more by sharing the company of a fine family. This gentleman I learned is a Sergeant on your police force and paid for my dinner for simply offering a place to sit in a public place.  I just wanted to recognize one of your officer’s generosity that casts a very positive light on the type of personnel representing your department.

  • Richard Espinoza
    Hello,

I would like to commend Officer Espinoza for his outstanding support and care of a young man in need.  While my sons and I were at the San Angelo Skate and Fun Center, I witnessed officer Espinoza reach out to a young man who I overheard reporting he had just lost his twin 12 yr old brother in a car accident.  This young man was clearly sad, in a bad place emotionally, and alone at the skating rink.  Officer Espinoza offered to be a friend and listening ear.  He told the young man he was frequently at the skate center on weekends, and would be available as often as the young man needed. I was very impressed by the emotional support freely offered by Officer Espinoza.  I have always been a big supporter of our police, but I know not everyone is supportive and appreciative.  Please commend Officer Espinoza for his loving care for our community.  Thank you, sir! We need more people like you in our community!

In a time of so much fear and uncertainty on the news. I was afraid of getting the cops involved in a situation with a person that struggles with mental health issues.  Officer Calvert showed such a respect for human life and dignity while conducting himself in a professional manner that I felt safe and reassured in having contacted the police.  His calm cool and professional demeanor handling a case with a person struggling with severe mental health issues was so reassuring.  Thank you for your service.

  • Officer Poinick
Officer Poinick pulled over my 16 year old son for not wearing a seatbelt today and issued my son his first citation. I appreciate Officer Poinick being professional yet sympathetic and not only did he issue a citation he also gave my son a life lesson and explained the importance of wearing his seatbelt at all times. I approached the vehicle and Officer Poinick was extremely polite and asked my son if he could inform me of his infraction prior to telling me. He was extremely professional, polite, and despite it all made it almost a cheery transaction. I am not pleased with my son for getting a ticket by no means but I am so happy that his first encounter with an officer of the law was educational and pleasant! Thank you sooooo much Officer Poinick!!

  • Sargent Callun
My name is Mariah Johnson. I work at HEB on Sherwoodway & Ave N as a cashier well on Monday which was labor day I was late to work. I did make it in time that early morning but I also locked my keys inside of my car on the very same morning. I was very disappointed in myself because I unfortunately didn't have funds to pay for a lock smith to come out to help me. Being a single parent working constantly it's hard to make those sacrifices. Well the very next day on Tuesday I had to work at 10:30am til 4:30pm I got my mother to drop me off early to my car to see if I could get my keys unlocked out the car. She also told me if I couldn't get them out to maybe call the none emergency number for the police so I can get help. Well when I called the none emergency number that same morning I was informed they normally don't unlock cars for anyone unless there was a child in the car locked. So I simply told the dispatch lady thank you for that & I hung up. Well I sit my phone on the top of my car & sure enough an officer pulled up right behind me in the parking very respectful simply asked if I needed help even though I was absolutely trying because it was my fault he instantly got right to helping me out right away. He assured me that he would well I had to get inside for my scheduled shift but I explained to him if he were to get my keys out that I'd be inside on the register or if he didn't see me feel free to leave them at the business center. I want to say after 20mins sure enough he walked my car keys right inside gave them right to me. I was taken care of a customer so I couldn't visit with him again just as I wanted to simply thank him for doing what he did for a young mother like me. It's not everyday you find a person like him. I prayed & sure enough he came through. I absolutely can't thank him enough so today which is Sept. 9th 2020 I call customer service to Speak with a Sargent Coffman he definitely was also nice respectful & walked me through on how to make a great compliment for the both of these awesome officers. I'm definitely grateful for everything they have both helped me out with. Just thought I'd atleast say what a great job they ha e done. I'm not the community but I am an HEB employee who loves to care for her community. It feels great having that in return.

Yesterday my daughter was hit in the rear quarter panel of her car at the Houston Harte Sherwood Way intersection by Lowe’s. The lady that hit her spoke very little English and didn’t understand that there were two lanes that turned. The officer that responded was thankfully bilingual and explained it to her so my daughter was able to get the information to have her car repaired. My daughter felt sorry for the other lady and didn’t want to press charges, but we are still thankful for the officer’s assistance.

The officers that worked the accident, placed the dead deer at the end of my driveway and came to my door to inform me of what they were doing. They assured me the deer would be removed the following Monday. Needless to say, it was not and this started a round of arguments between me, my husband, the city, animal control and eventually Lieutenant Thomason. I first gave them a week to come and remove the deer. When they did not, I called animal control and reported it (thinking the police officers had forgotten). Another week went by and nothing. My husband and I both called animal control again and we were told they came out but were not going to remove it because it was on private property. The deer was not on private property, it was outside of our property almost on the city sidewalk (in the right of way). We were then told we could not move it ourselves or we would be fined for dumping. After about a week of our neighbors reporting the smell and not getting anything done either, I contacted the police station and received a call back from Lieutenant Thomason. I explained what was going on and he told me he would contact animal control (or whatever you call them) and have them out the next day. He did contact them but they never showed. After 3 or 4 days I contacted Lieutenant Thomason again with what I can only admit, was a very rude and mean text message. For that I do apologize. Lieutenant Thomason got into his truck, after 7pm on Dec 5th, in the dark and came over to my home and removed the deer. The deer, after laying there for 3 weeks was not pleasant but he did it. He went above and beyond his job duties to make a citizen happy. In my opinion he deserves time off with pay, an award and what I can only imagine was a nice hot shower. LOL!

The officer observed the situation and assisted my friend with his reporting of an act of violence that had happened against him.  Officer Morris than stayed to make sure the situation was under control.  MANY THANKS TO YOU {Officer Morris} and too your fellow officers of the SAPD!!!!

I want to thank the SAPD for patrolling the Sherwood Way & Ave. N intersection, the College Hills & Ave. N intersection, and Douglas Drive along with the Ave. N/Douglas Drive intersection. Since the beginning of school, traffic has increased in these areas as well as the running of red lights. I realize most of us are in a rush, but with the SAPD’s presence, we remember to slow down AND perhaps stop at the yellow light. Also, on multiple occasions, I have seen cars in the right turn lane on Sherwood Way go straight. This is so dangerous!! Thank you for increasing your patrols in these areas.

  • Detective Schultz
I live in Seattle, Washington.  In May 2018 I discovered that I had been the victim of credit card fraud, with two purchases made in San Angelo.  Seattle police would only give me a report # for my bank, but would not pursue the case.  On a whim, I filed an online complaint with the San Angelo PD.
Detective Schultz contacted me soon after, indicating that he was serious about solving the crime.  He was extremely professional, motivated, and seemed to care about getting me some justice.  He pursued every lead possible, and kept me apprised of his progress each step of the way.  Unfortunately, due to the negligence of the businesses involved, he was not able to gather enough evidence to arrest the likely suspect.
I can't express how much it meant to me to have someone willing to pursue this criminal.  I am single and retired, and the dedication of Detective Schultz helped make me feel less powerless, less a victim, and more trustful of our justice system.  Due to his actions, nobody had better dare try to badmouth cops around me!  I've already told anyone who'd listen that Texas cops rule.  Detective Schultz - YOU rule!
Thanks again, and hopefully the scumbag who did this will soon be back in jail where he belongs.

My daughter suffers from severe anxiety.  When her car broke down today at the intersection of College Hills and Avenue N she called me crying and having trouble catching her breath.  Cars behind her were honking even though she had her emergency flashers on.  By the time I got there Officer Welch had arrived on scene, which calmed my daughter quite a bit, he directed traffic around her car while we waited for the tow truck.  He was so nice and concerned and will probably never know what a calming impact he had on a young lady having a panic attack.  I am proud of Officer Welch and so very thankful he came on the scene.  What seems like a little thing to some can make a huge difference.  Thank you Officer Welch

  • C. Wasson
I hope I got the name right. I saved it in my phone and had intended to send a note sooner than now. Several months ago this young officer stopped on Glenna across from the soccer fields on a hot Saturday afternoon to assist me with a flat tire on my mom's car. The street is very busy and potentially dangerous on the edge of the road to change a tire. Officer Wasson was very professional and helpful. Not only did he offer protection by parking his police vehicle with lights on, but he additionally assisted me with changing the tire. While assisting me, the jack fell over and the officer nearly got his hand caught between the tire and the car, luckily the tired lodged perfectly underneath the wheel well and the officer was quick enough to keep his hand from being injured. Thank you to this officer for his act of public service.

On March 28th, I had a situation at my home with someone attempting to gain entrance to my home by way of a gate.  He ended up jumping over the fence and taking items of no value from my fenced in back yard.  I was extremely afraid and concerned as I believed that once inside the yard he would attempt to enter my home.  I called the police department and Officer Beal responded to my call.  He walked through the back yard to check out the situation and then he actually secured my gate.  Not only was Officer Beal, friendly and attentive to my concern and obviously being upset, he assured me he would add extra patrol.  Through out the night, I could see that the patrol was driving past.  I was very frightened by this event and I so appreciated his reassurance and his sincere presence in listening.  Job Well Done.

We had a theft on December from our truck, after the initial report we were contacted several times throughout the day with questions and updates on what was happening.  Officer Kole came to our house and took more information and updated us on the progress.  We were called by Officer Flores about 7 that night and asked if we could come down and pick up some of our property that had been recovered.  We arrived at the PD about 7:15 and were waiting outside for an available officer when Sgt Holt came to the door and let us in and showed us to the waiting area so we wouldn't have to wait in the cold.  After he checked to see that our need were being me he left and while we waited several other officers passed by and each one of them asked if we were being helped and if there was anything they could do for us.  It made me very proud and appreciative of our police department and I wanted to thank you for all you do for us.  Be safe.

Officer Lane and Officer Bill --- handled an incident for me where a man was in my car while I was out of town. November 6, or was it November 7th? They ran my plates and called my emergency contact after not being able to reach me because I was traveling. They immediately called me in Corpus Christi even while they were still at my car with the man and they were both so kind and yet professional. They explained everything that had happened at the car, and told me a bit of history of the man, and explained my options on filing charges and what would happen if I did file. They addressed me as ma'am during the entire conversation. Later Officer Bil --- called me back and suggested I sanitize my car for my own safety. They were so polite and professional in how they handled everything. I thanked them several times for all they did.

  • Officers K. Green and T. Gonzales
On 7 October 2016, I called dispatch and asked for assistance with a situation where my children's grandfather was driving them in his work vehicle that had no seats.  The situation had quickly become volatile between their grandfather and I because I was very angry he had risked their lives and he obviously was distraught in getting caught endangering them and in his boss' vehicle.  Officers Green and Gonzales arrived and quickly got to work in diffusing the situation. Despite multiple family members from my ex-wife's family arriving on the scene and making more chaos, and claiming that I did not have the right to take custody of my children.  Officer Green handled both sides with respect, took the time to look over the legal paperwork and followed the court order and allowed me to depart with my children.  They both also took time to talk to the children, explain to them that I love them and that I was doing the right thing since they were a bit distraught as well.  Officer Green's experience and both Officer's care and compassion in the situation were commendatory and and I am grateful that they were the Officers to handle the situation.  Please extend to them my appreciation and know that you have two good Officers who obviously have the right mentality and training to handle these type of scenarios.

  • Officer Reyes
Very knowlegable, Very kind, I have had some very emotional days lately, with the hate mail being posted on facebook, and absolutly vulgar text messages being sent, harassing phone calls, and  I haven't seen my grandson in 3.5 months. We have been together for 5, sometimes 6 days a week for 4 years,  all in an attempt to discredit my statements in an on going CPS investigation. They have money for an attorney, which sent registered mail to me today. I am on a limited income and in poor health, I can't afford an attorney. Officer Reyes was here with my son to pickup a gun, that he knows I don't have. I have told my son twice that the gun I bought him 2 years ago for his birthday was at his Uncle's house, locked up in safe room . He just needed to call his uncle and let him know he was coming to get it.  They were just trying to bully me, but Officer Reyes took the time to talk to me and give me few ideas of where I might could get some help with my situation. That is a good man in my opinion. There was another officer that came out when they were harassing me with phone calls and when I stopped answering, they began texting me. He helped me with blocking them and texted a message for me to them, Not to call or Texted me anymore are harassment charges on them. I wished I could remember his name, because he needs an atta boy , too. Maybe you can find him. He came out to the house around 7pm on the July the 12th, 2016. God be with you all.

The family(4 adults/2 small children) was on the lake around 4pm Sunday September 4th and we were having boat problems, could not get it to start for over an hour.  While being towed it did start, we had to go by Spring Creek Marina and then cross under the bridge to get back to the ramp and could only go max of 6-8mph.  I told my son not to slow down as I was afraid it would die again, we were creating a wake but were not going fast.  As we crossed under the bridge, we heard the siren and Lake Patrol pulled up beside us and I told them we were having motor problems and could they follow us to the ramp and I would be happy to get a citation.  They seemed to understand and started following us, as we turned to head toward the ramp, they waived us on, very nice.  I know we were wrong and I think they knew I was being truthful and they watched us make it back safely.  I appreciate the courtesy and am thankful for our entire police staff.  God Bless all of our police officers.  Thank you for keeping us safe.

Two prosecutors, a D.A. investigator, and AN SAPD Detective  were also present and benefited from this evidence viewing. In my 40 years of practice I have never seen a more efficient, secure and organized presentation of criminal case evidence. We were supplied with excellent written materials cataloging the evidence items in a logical and legal-minded manner. To Whom It Concerns,

My name is Palmer Wilson and I am trying to write a letter to the San Angelo Police Department. It writes as follows:

A good friend of mine was recently arrested by the San Angelo Police Department for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. I will never know the circumstances of the situation; however, that is not what I am writing about. I want to thank the San Angelo Police Department for their professionalism. Confronted by a masked man with a rifle would unhinge even me, a Veteran of the United States Army. A situation that could have ended in a very tragic way was deflected by the decisions of the officers confronted by the situation. My friend will face the consequences for his decisions; however, he is alive thanks to the San Angelo Police Department. And finally, I just want to say that my thoughts go out to officers who helped my friend that night.

  • To the entire San Angelo police department.
    Dear ladies and gentlemen,
I am not from San Angelo but I have lived here for just over five years. I just wanted to say something in the wake of these last few weeks. I cannot image what each of you have faced in your careers nor could I boast on knowing how you may feel each night as you protect this city. I can say that as a veteran that I understand the quiet sentinel that must keep watch whether praised or cursed. Many may never know what cost you have paid for your service or what is yet to come, but I honor you for your willingness to stand. Many enjoy safety without ever knowing what is required to keep that safety. Sadly many would not be willing to stand. For every one that would speak rudely about you sacrifice and dismiss you service know that I am one among many that praise your selflessness. I don't know if each of you have faith in God above but please accept this prayer from me out of love, "My Heavenly Father look down on these men and women tonight, for each goes out to serve. Grant them courage to face whatever comes and from Your bounty grant them peace and calm in their daily storms. Let them be tempered with compassion and not overcome with contempt. May they be the beacon to all in need and with wisdom judge the right. Heal their hearts for those that have gone before. May they carry each hug and kiss from their loved ones as a shield against the cruelty they may endure. In the moments that are darkest may they know they are never alone. Bless them each one and all."  I will pray for you all and thank you.

Officer Landing did an outstanding job representing SAPD at the Texas Police Games last week in San Angelo, Texas. He went above and beyond in coordinating several events and worked 20 hour days. He already had a very positive attitude and did an incredible job with making the other law enforcement officers from the State of Texas feel right at home with that great San Angelo hospitality.  We can't thank him enough for his hard work, great attitude and will to go the extra yard in everything he was assigned to do last week for the Texas Police Athletic Federation.

I was meaning to write this during police week, however time escaped me. I was recently a passenger in a vehicle that Motor Officer Bylsma pulled over for a very legitimate traffic violation near the Elks Lodge. This officer observed this violation and conducted a traffic stop. I can say throughout the entire encounter this officer was professional and respectful. I recently had a chance to speak with him again and thanked him.

I would like the San Angelo Police Department know this experience was one of the most professional I have observed.

    Keep Up the good work.

Mike Gesch has always volunteer his time at the Relay For Life of Tom Green County. This year not only did he have a crew of volunteer officers to help run security at the event but they honored our cancer survivors by escorting them during our opening ceremony during the survivor lap. It was an amazing site to see the heroes of San Angelo escorting the heroes of the Relay For Life. We are very thankful for everything these SAPD volunteers do for us each year but this year they really went over the top. Thank you so much Officer Gesch for your commitment to the Relay For Life of Tom Green County.

Officer Govera assisted me in a stolen phone and was able to recover it quickly using a lost iPhone app. Officer Govera was extremely respectful and patient the entire time, and treated this small Incident as if it was his own phone that was stolen. Using a lost iPhone app we located the phone and were able to find the individual responsible. Even though I did not feel the need to press charges against the individual, I feel as though Officer Govera handled the Small case with such professionalism that the individual will definitely think twice before making a stupid mistake that can possibly ruin his young life. Officer Govera's Respect, Professionalism and Duty to act attitude has brought great respect from me towards the Department. Thank you for you time and Professionalism.

  • I have forgotten.
I can't remember the name of the officer who arrested me for P.I. a couple of months ago, but I wished to commend the officer for the professional, clear and even courteous way in which he treated me.  I was unable to pay the fine in time and know that there is a warrant for my arrest.  I am in Dallas taking care of a close relative who will soon go to heaven.  When I have attended the funeral, may I simply come back to San Angelo and turn myself in for the time necessary to pay the fine?

Thanks again for being a testimony for police officers who do consistently face danger and still maintain an attitude of respect and fairness.

  • Laura Washington with Victims Assistance/Crime Prevention under the supervision of Sergeant Salazar
Having been a victim of multiple incidents of abuse and trauma throughout my life, I have a difficult time feeling safe with people.  Most people are apathetic to experiences or needs outside of their own.  So, when I cross paths with a person who seems to defy the norm, I think it is important to acknowledge that person.

My call for assistance was redirected to Laura Washington.  She listened compassionately to my concerns and did what she could to validate my feelings.  Laura promptly followed up regarding any return calls, diligently looked up and verified program information, and worked hard to communicate key points despite my stressed communication at times.

Because of my disability, people often misinterpret my behavior, statements or intentions, but Laura was kind enough to respectfully clarify, explain and question as needed. She was open to proposed solutions while she patiently reiterated what "is" and what "is not" feasible regarding her department without making me feel abandoned.  She helped me feel like someone cared enough to try to help during a time of need.  While I do not know Laura Washington personally, she seems like a valuable asset to the Victims Assistance/Crime Prevention unit within the San Angelo Police Department.

They were all very interesting and gave us a lot of useful information about what goes on in their particular jobs. They showed their professionalism and love of the jobs they do. It was a great insight to some things that go on behind the scenes. With all the things going on in the national news I am amazed that anyone wants to do the job anymore. Greetings Chief Tim Vasquez,

Sir, I had the opportunity to meet your department's Sergeant Shah this afternoon at 1442 hrs at 1700 Edmund Blvd.  I had exceeded the posted speed limit driving through the residential area posted at 30mph while in route to JP Precinct 3 Judge Buck's office.  Your Sergeant executed all proper measures in stopping me and I entered the Baptist church's parking lot for further procedures.  Your Sergeant was very professional, courteous and respectful.  I was in the wrong and admitted it.  No excuses, zero tolerance.  He noticed my DV plates and inquired and I shortly explained the 3 Iraqi combat deployments I did between 2004 and 2006 and why I was 60% VA disabled.  He commended me for my combat service and was grateful for former and current soldiers like me who fought to free  the Iraqi people from a wicked inhumane dictator.  Sergeant Shah should be recognized for his unselfish devotion to duty and his immaculate respect to citizens and veterans in his San Angelo area of operations.

I do overnight security for the Silver Spur Gun show when it is held at the Coliseum.  On Saturday night either my cell phone wasn't receiving properly or I had disabled it.  My wife calls through the night checking on me, on this occasion failing to raise me at 11:45 PM.  After repeatedly trying to reach me until sometime just after 1:00 AM she resorted to calling the San Angelo Police Department on their non-emergency line.  She was treated very cordially and helpfully, the dispatcher sending an officer to the Coliseum to check on me.  This officer was also very courteous and friendly, displaying a helpful and concerned attitude.  I was fine, blissfully unaware that the phone wasn't working but really grateful that the San Angelo police were helpful to allay my wife's concerns for me.  The attitudes projected by both dispatch and the unknown officer who were both very professional and very heartwarming to experience.  I feel like I have friends at the San Angelo Police Department who've "got my back" whenever I am doing the all-night security stint at the gun show.

Please let both dispatch and the officer on duty who came to the Coliseum at 1:00-1:30 AM Sunday morning know that their efforts are noticed and appreciated.  You make a difference!

  • Lt Mike Hernandez
To the San Angelo Police Department,

Our family would like to thank Lieutenant Mike Hernandez for his service on June 18, 2015.  Our son, Jordan, was visiting San Angelo and had been there with friends who are enrolled in the University. While having all the fun that youngsters tend to have, Jordan dropped his cell phone in the pool and it never recovered.  When it was time for him to make his way home, he missed his bus at the Greyhound station.  Needless to say, his friends simply dropped him off thinking he was safe and sound.  Having no way to contact anyone, Jordan drifted around waiting for the next bus. After 24 hours of no contact, his dad and I contacted the San Angelo Police Department.  Lieutenant Mike Hernandez, answered our call and immediately took action. Honestly, I expected him to wait until the next day to start work on this case. But, when Jordan's friends called saying that they had spoken to Lt. Mike that same night, I felt hope.  Later that night we did make contact Jordan and I left a message for Lt. Mike to inform him.  The next day Lt. Mike called to make sure Jordan had made it home safely.  San Angelo Police Department, I am sure is honored to have Lt. Mike on the squad. But as parents, we worry about our children and hope that the authorities care as much as we do. And, Lieutenant Mike showed us that he cares!  Thanks, Mike, all the way from Allen, TX!!! Officer McAndrews came to my home after I called in a break in of my car.  He got to my house very quickly after my call, took information, took fingerprints and was very courteous and professional.  He was very attentive to detail and efficient.  I told him that I hesitate to contact police because I know they have bigger fish to fry, but he was very encouraging for me to call if I see anything suspicious.  He informed me of online reporting if I don't feel it is important enough to get an officer involved.

What A Nice Experience!  I Greatly Appreciate San Angelo Police Officers.  Just from common knowledge, I feel that we have the best, most dependable, best looking police force around.  Thanks, guys for risking your lives for the protection of ordinary citizens.  Officer McAndrews is one of the most professional, courteous and efficient officers in a super police department.  That is saying a lot!

Earlier this evening there was a knock on my door. My wife opened the door to find Officer Hawthorne at our door step asking if she was our son Desmond's mother. My son Desmond who's 6th b-day happens to be tomorrow, had been in the front yard riding his power wheels police car when Officer Hawthorne drove by and noticed him. He stopped to talk to Des and let him get an up close and personal look at a real police cruiser. I was not home to witness this but as soon as I pulled into the driveway my son comes running up to tell me that he wants to be a police officer when he grows up. I would like to thank the officer for taking time out of his busy day to do such a random act of kindness.

As I grew up, we all wanted to be professional athletes or fireman/policemen.  This theme seems to have changed somewhat as our newest generation grows up.  I was excited to hear my own elementary age child comment that it would be awesome to be a policeman like Officer Griffin.  I work with children all day long (as an elementary principal) and that statement shows Officer Griffin is representing your department well.

I am visiting your fair city for a few  days, work related.  While driving through your town I was unaware of the speed limit in one section of the town.  I was stopped and ticketed by Officer Dye for the speed.

I my prior life, I am a retired State Trooper for the State of Alaska.  Whenever I come in contact with law enforcement I seem to still take notice of different things.  First I would like to let you know Officer Dye was very professional as well as friendly.  He found I was from out of town, but 14 mph over the limit was still going to get me a ticket.  He explained everything politely and made sure I didn't feel like I was being singled out.  Very nice interaction.

Additionally, his officer safety was excellent.  Good approach to the car.  I could see his eyes were checking all the right places, stayed in position during the entire contact never letting down his guard.  Very good officer.

Please let him know I appreciate his consideration and a job well done.  It's the little things he did that makes for a good officer and a safe officer.

I live at the Riverpointe Apartments. 2 days ago while sitting on my front porch, I saw an officer with his lights on, pulling someone over, who just happened to pull into our complex right in front of our house. My son, who is 7, was riding his bike out front. While this officer was speaking with the driver he pulled over, my son went up to him and asked him if he could please see the inside of his car. I explained to my son, who was so excited because the officer allowed him to look, not to bother him while he was working. A few minutes later, the officer was back in his car, with about 10 kids at his window..... The officer sat there and talked to the kids a d answered their questions for about 20 minutes or so. I didn't catch his name, but I would like to tell him thankyou, again, for taking the time out to listen to these children and talk to them! He didn't have to do that, but he did. I respect him a lot for that, and my son is still talking about it. So thankyou again sir......

Throughout my adulthood in San Angelo, I have always found SAPD to be fair and fast.  I made an emergency call for service a few days ago and received fast response -- surely less than two minutes, perhaps quicker.  It was such a safe feeling I felt when the officer arrived to aid me.
When a detective followed-up with me on that call-for-service, his fair perspective and fantastic advice continues to support the notion that this city enjoys the benefits of a world-class police department.
Thank you all for the risks you take to protect us.

Thank you for listening to what is an issue involving neighbors. You were very professional and understanding. Unfortunately, rather fortunately this is the first time I have had the opportunity to thank the SAPD. He did appear concerned and made suggestions for safety and what to do in the future. I do hope that he is recognized for his efforts. He did provide information on how to contact the office if needed in non-emergency situations.

Saturday afternoon, Oct. 29, my daughter and I were were stopped near Target by a motorcycle patrolman, she was ticketed for several things her own fault.  As her Mom I didnot know how things would happen after her arrest, this patrolman was very patient and kind with me and her, (though I am sure he thinks I a bit dumb not being able to understand as he had to explain the process a few times)just wanted him to know I appreciated the way he handled things. Please let him know this. So sorry I can't remember his name.

On November 28, 2009, my wallet disappered while I was at Walmart on Sherwood Way.  After looking extensively for it, I called the police.  The officer who took my statement was very courteous, professional and sympathetic to my situation.  In this day and age when lack of respect for authority seems to be the norm, I would like to thank him for his professionalism and let him know that he has my respect and appreciation.

Also, I have attended Adoration at my Church during the wee hours of the morning.  I have noticed the police presence on Avenue N (the route I travel) and in the area of the Adoration Chapel.  I greatly appreciate this and it makes me feel safer when I go to Adoration in the middle of the night.

I came off Glenna where speed limit is 45 onto 29th (30) & motorcycle cop followed behind me until I stopped at red light just past Fannin. Only after setting thru the red light & the light turned green did the cop flash me & gave me a ticket for 39 in a 30.
Is that proper? To follow 3 or 4 blocks & wait  thru a traffic signal to decide if he's going to ticket me or not....

One large scale government raid after another on religious people who seem to be doing nothing more than minding their own business.  The so called "facts" of this case (e.g., mystery 16 year old girl) have all but disappeared and what's left makes everyone in Texas look bad.

  • Thank You - everyone
I have been trying to figure out how to send a message to all of the courageous police officers and child protection employees in Texas who had the guts to go in and pull those children to safety. I hope this will reach them.

Words cannot describe my joy at finally seeing someone do something.  I cannot imagine how difficult it must have been to have the patience
to wait until you had enough evidence to go in "en masse." It must have been brutal, knowing what was going on and not being able to move on it.

I have been reading about these sub-human men for a long time, have followed this disgusting practice of enslavement, brain washing and misuse of public welfare funds to finance their private pedophyle paradise. No less evil than the Talaban, these traitors to democracy, have desecrated the joys and rights of children, and the natural, God-given bonding  of mother, father and child.  Love is not a word they either understand nor honor.

My deepest thanks and praise go to you all. My prayers go also to you, and to these children, their mis-guided mothers and the generous-hearted individuals who will help them transition into a more healthy, loving life.
