Suspect Arrested After Burglary Call on South Jefferson Street

Around noon today, San Angelo Police were dispatched to a residence in the unit block of South Jefferson Street for the report of a possible burglary in progress and that the suspect(s) may still be inside the residence, possibly in the attic.

Responding Officers were updated with information that a suspect fled the residence and was seen running through the backyard and over a fence.  During an exterior search of the property, Officers located evidence indicating someone may have entered an enclosed carport.  Upon searching the carport, Officers located a man, who matched the description of the suspect, hiding on the ground.  He was taken into custody without incident and identified as Chance Taylor, of San Angelo.

Officers cleared the residence for the homeowner, and although no other suspects were located, Police found evidence that Taylor had been inside the attic and at some point, had partially fallen through the ceiling’s sheet rock.

Taylor was arrested for Criminal Trespass of Habitation and transported to the Tom Green County Jail.
