On August 5, 2018, an Officer with the San Angelo Police Department’s Lake Division located a U-Haul Truck at Mary E. Lee Beach and made contact with two subjects concerning a City Ordinance Violation.
During a computerized records check, the Officer received notification that the U-Haul had been reported stolen from Charleston, West Virginia. The female subject was identified as 35-year-old Victoria Turner of West Virginia. The male subject, who originally identified himself to the Officer using a false name, was later identified as 49-year-old Michael Turner of West Virginia. M. Turner had outstanding non-extraditable warrants out of Arkansas.
M. Turner was arrested for Unauthorized Use of Motor Vehicle and Possession of Controlled Substance Penalty Group I after Officers located a syringe loaded with suspected methamphetamine in his pocket, but it was the search of the U-Haul that led Officers and Criminal Investigators to discover evidence that ultimately cleared several other crimes.
Officers located and seized numerous pieces of identifying [card] information from victims located in other states as well as San Angelo. As a result, the couple was additionally charged with Fraudulent Use Possession of Identifying Information 10<50, a Second Degree Felony.
During extensive follow up investigation by Detectives with the San Angelo Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division it was learned the couple were also suspects of an ongoing investigation for Grand Larceny with the Charleston Police Department in West Virginia as well as suspects in an ongoing investigation for Felony Theft and Commercial Burglary with the Marion Police Department in Marion, Arkansas.
Additional warrants from Arkansas are forthcoming and additional local charges may be pending from the ongoing investigation.
