San Angelo Motors Officer Injured in Morning Crash behind Police Headquarters

October 18, 2017 — A San Angelo Police Officer assigned to the Department’s Traffic Section was injured in a single-vehicle motorcycle crash that occurred this morning behind Police Headquarters, 401 E. Beauregard.  The crash occurred just before 10:00 a.m.

The injured Officer, who was hired in 2008, was located in the parking lot by a Patrolman.  Additional Officers rushed to aid the injured Officer, who was then transported to a nearby hospital by San Angelo Fire Department Medics for treatment of incapacitating injuries.  The Officer is reported to be in stable condition.

A preliminary crash investigation revealed the Officer was traveling south through the parking lot when he lost control of the motorcycle.  After the Officer became disconnected from the motorcycle, the motorcycle continued traveling on its right side a short distance until it came to rest after colliding with a parked city-owned vehicle.

The Department’s Crime Scene Investigations Unit responded to the crash, which is standard operating procedure for Officer involved incidents.
