San Angelo Man Arrested after Southland Crime Spree
An 18-year-old San Angelo man is facing a plethora of charges after a weekend crime spree in Southland.
Just after 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 6, 2018, San Angelo Police responded to a residence in the 3300 block of Cedar Hill Drive where a 68-year-old San Angelo man reported one of his vehicles was burglarized and that his 2011 Ford F250 pickup truck had been stolen from his driveway. The victim also reported the truck contained a firearm and his credit cards.
As the responding Officer was taking the report, the victim received text messages from his bank inquiring about recent purchases that were made at multiple stores inside the Sunset Mall. During follow up investigation and review of surveillance footage from the mall, Officers learned that a subject who is known to law enforcement, Noah Silva, was using one of the cards to make the unauthorized purchases.
A few hours later, Officers spotted Silva driving the stolen truck in the 2600 block of S. Bryant Blvd. Additional units mobilized and attempted to execute a Felony traffic stop on the vehicle near Ben Ficklin and S. Bryant; however, Silva disregarded the marked units’ lights and sirens and a vehicle pursuit ensued. During the pursuit, Silva reached excessive speeds and drove through Butler Farms and neighboring fields.
Stop-Sticks were utilized near River Valley Lane, which disabled three of the truck’s tires but Silva continued fleeing until he crashed the truck in the 1600 block of Idaho Avenue. Following the crash, Silva fled on foot. Officers quickly established a perimeter and located Silva. Silva actively resisted his arrest.
Silva was charged with Unauthorized Use of Motor Vehicle, Evading Arrest Detention with Vehicle, Evading Arrest Detention, Resisting Arrest Detention, and warrants.
Additional charges are forthcoming pending the outcome of this ongoing investigation and Silva is a person of interest in several thefts and burglaries that have occurred in the Southland area prior to Saturday’s incident.
The victim’s stolen firearm was also recovered from the truck.
