Press Release #100815(03)-Man Arrested after Hospital Parking Lot Foot Chase

San Angelo Police arrested a 33-year-old Wanted Suspect after a brief foot chase that began in the parking lot behind West Texas Medical Associates, 3501 Knickerbocker Road yesterday evening.

Just after 7:00 p.m., Officers received a broadcast message about a Wanted Subject at the facility.  Officer A. Nandin arrived and recognized the subject, Tarren Watson (DOB 09/29/82) of San Angelo, standing amongst a group of people in the parking lot.  Officer Nandin exited his patrol car and attempted to make contact with Watson but Watson ran away.  A second Officer who responded to assist, C. Gonzales, observed Watson flee and gave chase.  Officer Gonzales pursued Watson and gave several verbal commands to stop but Watson disregarded the commands and continued to run.  Officer Gonzales caught Watson about 80 yards from where the pursuit began.  Watson actively resisted until Officers Gonzales and Nandin secured him in handcuffs.

During a search of Watson, Officers located an electronic scale and a glass pipe commonly used to ingest illicit drugs.  Watson was issued a citation for Drug Paraphernalia and arrested for two outstanding City Warrants, two Midland County Warrants, Two Tom Green County Warrants, and Felony Enhanced Evading.  Watson was transported to the Tom Green County Jail without incident.

Officers cannot speculate about why Watson was at the medical facility but are certain he may have felt a little run down after the chase.
