Press Release #092815(24)-Man Shoots Himself after Standoff with Police

Bradley Shane Duncan, a 45 year old white male from Cleburne, TX, shot himself in the abdominal area after a several hour standoff with San Angelo Police.

Early this morning at 12:44 am, San Angelo Police were sent to the Sedona Ranch Apartments, 2901 Sunset Drive, for a suicidal subject call.  Kimberly Duncan, a 28 year old white female, reported her estranged husband, Bradley Duncan, had kicked in the door to her apartment armed with a gun.  Kimberly Duncan reported her husband had threatened to shoot her and then himself in a previous argument during the weekend.  She was able to get out of the apartment safely along with her two children, a 9 year old male and an 8 year old female, and call the police.

Officers were able to make contact with Bradley Duncan by phone.  He made several statements stating he was either going to shoot himself or make the Police shoot him.  The San Angelo Police SWAT team, Crisis Negotiation Team, and Criminal Investigation Division responded to the scene.  After several hours of speaking with Duncan by phone, at approximately 5:50 am, Officers heard a gunshot.  A few minutes later, Duncan came out of the apartment with a self inflicted gunshot wound to his abdominal area.  He was taken into custody by members of the SWAT team without any further incident.  It was learned the gunshot had been from a shotgun.

San Angelo Fire Department personnel who had been standing by during the incident began treatment of Duncan's wound and transported him to Shannon Hospital.  Duncan has been admitted into the hospital for his injury.  His current condition is not known at this time.

Detective Kelly Lajoie is the lead detective for this investigation.  At this time an arrest warrant has been issued for Duncan for Burglary with Intent to Commit another Felony.  Other charges may be filed at a later time pending further investigation.
