Press Release #073014(16)-Single Vehicle Crash Causes Extensive Damage to Barrier on Houston Harte

An afternoon single vehicle crash that damaged over one-thousand feet of the traffic barrier near the 3100 block of the West Houston Harte Expressway appears to be the result of a medical complication.

Police were dispatched to the area for the report of a crash involving a 2012 Toyota FJ Cruiser.  San Angelo Fire Department Medics also responded.  The driver of the Cruiser, a 53-year-old San Angelo woman, was transport to Shannon Medical Center by ambulance.

Police spoke with witnesses who said they observed the victim traveling westbound in the outside lane when her vehicle began to drift towards the median and collide with the stretch of barrier.  Witnesses who came to the driver's aid told police the woman was unconscious when they found her.

It was determined that the driver may have experienced some type of medical complication just prior to her crash.  The woman reportedly did not suffer any injuries during the crash and is said to be in stable condition.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
