Press Release # 061814 Vehicle Pursuit Ends With Juvenile Arrests and a Recovered Stolen Vehicle

This morning, June 18th, 2014, at approximately 1:20 am, San Angelo Police Department K-9 Officer J. Fincher observed two passenger vehicles driving north in the 4000 block of south Bryant Blvd that appeared to have possibly collided.  The vehicles observed were a 2004 White Chevrolet Impala and a 1996 Blue Dodge Neon.  Officer Fincher witnessed the White Impala commit a traffic violation and initiated a traffic stop.  The driver of the Impala refused to stop and a vehicle pursuit ensued.

The pursuit continued north bound on Bryant Blvd. with speeds reaching 100 mph until the driver of the Impala lost control at Washington Dr. and struck a traffic signal pole.   The 13 year old male driver was then taken into custody without incident and transported to the Juvenile Justice Center for Evading in a Vehicle.   No injuries were reported in the accident.

The 2004 Blue Dodge Neon was located a short time later by Officer R. Herndon in the 2600 block of A&M Circle.  The vehicle appeared to have been damaged in a collision.   Officer Herndon's investigation revealed the Neon had been reported stolen on June 15, 2014 by its owner.  The 14 year old male driver was taken into custody without incident and was transported to Juvenile Justice Center for Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle.

Both juveniles are both residents of San Angelo.

These charges are being investigated by the San Angelo Police Department Criminal Investigative Division and no further information will be released at this time.
