Department Celebrates Officers’ Career Achievements, Friendships during Retirement and Promotion Ceremonies
ly 31, 2019 — This morning, San Angelo Police Department employees gathered at the McNease Convention Center to celebrate the career and retirement of Sergeant Rick Tinsley after twenty (20) years of service.
Prior to serving the Department, Tinsley served twenty (20) years in the United States Air Force as a Firefighter and Master Fire Instructor before his assignment to the Security Forces Squadron and the 315 Training Squadron at Goodfellow Air Force Base.
Tinsley joined the San Angelo Police Department family in 1999 and during his tenure has served in the Patrol Division, Criminal Investigations Division, Community Services Division, and he was one of the first officers selected to work in the Department’s former Special Operations Section. Other accomplishments include serving on the Department’s Hostage Negotiations Team, which is now referred to as the Crisis Negotiations Team, for 17 years. Tinsley retires as a Master Peace Officer with over 3,220 cumulative training hours and he intends to continue serving as a Reserve Officer.
Just before noon today, in a private ceremony surrounded by family and colleagues at Police Headquarters, Officers Jeremy Cannady and Josh Shultz promoted to the rank of Sergeant.
Sgt. Cannady, who has been serving in the Criminal Investigations Division as a Crimes Against Children Detective, was hired in 2009.
Sgt. Shultz, who has been serving as a Detective in the Criminal Investigations Division, was hired in 2011.
The newly-promoted Sergeants will be transferred to the Department’s Patrol Division.
